Tube sheet is a plate which is used to support the tubes in a shell-and-tube heat exchanger.The tubes are arranged in a parallel fashion and are supported and held in place by tube sheets. A tubesheet is a circular plate that is perforated so that pipes can pass through the openings.

Baffles are used in shell to direct the fluid stream across the tubes to increase the velocity of shell side flow and thereby to improve the shell side heat transfer coefficient. By the way, they support the tubes in the proper position during assembly and operation and prevent vibration of the tubes caused by flow-induced eddies.

A plate type baffle maybe single segmental, double segmental or triple segmental. With the single and double segmental baffles are most frequently used as they divert the flow most effectively across the tubes.
